A sea of opportunities

Countries in Asia are beginning to recognise and take on board the gravity of plastic pollution in our oceans. This may create new opportunities for Norwegian enterprises and technology.

This was the message at a webinar held by NOSCA Clean Oceans on 26 April. An audience of some 40 members followed the online event from Norway, and on the other side of the world were five representatives from Innovation Norway ready to brief on the situation in South East Asia.

Launches new website

Opening of the NOSCA test center

On Thursday 15. October 2020, the Innovation Cluster NOSCA Clean Oceans opened its new test center at Store Lungegårdsvann in Bergen. Going forward, the “Store Lungen” will function as a fantastic test pool for the development of groundbreaking technology for collecting marine polution. During the opening event, completely new solutions were presented, such as self-propelled autonomous vessels and other technology that collects plastic in the oceans.

Major cleanup to reset the heart of Bergen

On Tuesday 19 November, more than 300 students, businesses, authorities, and voluntary organizations will come together to purify Store Lundegårdsvann of plastic. The area will be a test arena for the development of new technology for the collection of marine waste.

NOSCA becomes Innovation Cluster Bergen

On Friday, “NOSCA Clean Oceans” was awarded status as an Arena cluster in the “Norwegian Innovation Clusters” programme. The new cluster will make use of Norwegian technology from oil spill preparedness to clear and prevent plastic and other marine waste in the world’s oceans.
