World-leading industrial
solutions for clean oceans.
The two leading innovation clusters in Norway working for cleaner oceans, NOSCA Clean Oceans and Marine Recycling Cluster, have merged into Clean Oceans.
NOSCA, which is short for Norwegian Oil Spill Control Association, was established in 1993 as a membership organization for exporting Norwegian oil spill technology. In 2019, they started working on finding new applications for the technology developed. Upon joining the Innovation Norway cluster program in 2020, they started exploring the business opportunities to transfer the oil spill technology to applications to clean up and prevent marine plastics and biological threats.
Marine Recycling Cluster (MRC) was established in 2016 after a meeting on Fiskebøl where several companies met to discuss business opportunities for technology to address marine plastic pollution. After two years as a business network, they gained status as a cluster and was also accepted to Innovation Norway cluster program in 2020. The main objective for the period in the cluster program was to create commercial business models for cleaning ocean plastics.
In 2022, NOSCA and MRC saw the upside of working closer together, as we shared challenges, solutions and even some members. In 2023 we merged into Clean Oceans. We believe that our combined recourse base makes for even better chances of success.
